Originally released in 1993, God Macabre's The Winterlong belongs to the first wave of Swedish death metal. Being early Swedish death metal, The Winterlong is more in the vein of the Stockholm sound than the more melodic Gothenburg sound that would later become synonymous with the term 'Swedish metal'.

IMPALED, purveyors of backwards-thinking medicine, have put their John Hancock on a contract with Willowtip Records, purveyors of forward-thinking metal. Following Willowtip's recent deal for European distribution, the new Impaled record will be made available in the Old World via Candlelight Records. After touring worldwide to support their previous album on Century Media Records, "Death After Life," Impaled have been hard at work writing and recording a follow up record. The deal with Willowtip comes at a fortuitous juncture, just in time for the album to be released during Impaled's tenth year anniversary as a band. "I'd like to say the new record is sicker and more brutal than the last, but I can't. Fact is, it goes beyond that. The new record is way way sickerer and way way way way way more brutaller," said bassist Ross Sewage on the subject of Impaled's latest recording. Regarding the new deal with Willowtip Records, Sewage stated, "Impaled is looking forward to working with the Willowtip empire. We will murder our enemies, burn their crops, loot their stores, stampede their women and rape their cattle." Jason Tipton, president and C.E.O. of Willowtip, Inc., has added, "We are honored to be working with the goretet known as Impaled and are thrilled to celebrate their 10th anniversary. We urge everyone in kingdoms worldwide not to purchase the traditional gifts of tin or aluminum for this 10th anniversary celebration, but instead to purchase the new album from Impaled, which will be in stores throughout Europe November 5th and in North America November 6th." The new album from IMPALED, entitled "The Last Gasp," will be their fourth full-length recording.

Iron Angel never fit into one box only, so their debut album is a delightful blend of Speed and Heavy Metal, marking it's very own territory between the realms of Running Wild, Accept and Grave Digger on one side and Artillery and Destruction on the other - not to forget Dirk Schröder's remarkable voice, which is an outstanding feature of this extremely powerful, extremely promising debut album. Since the dawn of human intellectualism, self-aware individuals have sought solitude. Paul Speckmann of Master finds his own solidarity in expressing apathy towards society. Lets acknowledge the introspective impact of Master’s 1998 release “Faith is in Season.” Crusty bass lines and tom-centric drumming push “Faith is in Season” forward with a reliable tempo, coupled with intermittent guitar leads and Speckmann’s defiant screeches define Master’s new production - consistent and comprehendible Death Metal. This is further polished with thoughtful song intros that highlight each individual member’s musicianship. This foundation supports the guitar melodies and lyrical concepts. Compositionally, each instrument in Master is worth its own weight in gold while also not overshadowing each other. This is a self-evident testament to Speckmann’s exemplary leadership because the band line-up on “Faith is in Season” was relatively brief. Similar to 1990’s contemporaries like Vader or Obituary, Master solidified their craft with “Faith is in Season” and has since strayed minimally.

This Master album holds Death Metal, Thrash Metal, even some punky moments and a country song. No need to go through all songs here but just a few to give you an indication. The album starts off with the Thrashy “You’ll be blamed” which is reminiscent of the earlier “Collection Of Souls” album (though catchier) and with Abomination tendencies. Also a song such as “Sign Up” is very old school Thrash Metal with those typical harsch Speckmann vocals. “The Serpents Tongue” is a straight forward uptempo Death Metal tune and same goes for “Whatever, Wherever, Forever”. The song “The Perfect Family” comes closest to the d-beat Master we got used to from their first two albums. A very nice surprise is the song “Pistols, Whips and Coyotes” which refers a lot to Macabre in terms of riffs although sounding slightly simpler because of the drums. Had Dennis The Menace played on this song nobody would have noticed it isn’t Macabre. The punky attitude of the album becomes most obvious on songs such as “Rights of Life” and “Envy” (which almost sound like 1987-1991 era Sodom). Most notable song is the punk song “Another Day in Phoenix” which even has some clean vocals and incidentally is one of the highlights of the album. We also should not forget to mention closing song “Ring Of Fire”, a Johnny Cash cover including the trumpets. “Spirit Of The West” is one of the most diverse and surprising Master albums yet.

A rough 'n' rowdy rehearsal recording followed the next year, capped by a cover of Discharge's "Maimed and Slaughtered," but the best - and WORST - was yet to come... At last, it arrived in the summer of 2020, in the form of SADISTIC DRIVE's debut album: Anthropophagy. Released on cassette by Headsplit Records and then CD by La Caverna Records, this geyser of grossness is finally getting the treatment is so deserves - VINYL! Indeed, Anthropophagy is one gross slab of depraved DEATH, grinding and D-beating and dizzying and dark, but surprisingly, it's also well-recorded and exceptionally tight. Where so much gore-drenched death metal goes the sloppy route, SADISTIC DRIVE drive deep into death metal classicism and place a premium on actual songwriting: neither "old school" nor new, but rather timeless in its tried & true tropes...and above all, gross! One can sense a (sadistic) smirk on the band's faces as they dole out their crushing jams, each one as fun as the last, but it's DEATH METAL after all and bound to pound you into a pulp.

The Laws of Scourge is the second studio album by the Brazilian extreme metal band Sarcófago. It was on this album that the band's lyrical content shifted from Satanism to more realistic subject matter; "Midnight Queen" is about a prostitute, while "Screeches from the Silence" is about living life in a care-free manner. After the lo-fi black/thrash metal style of I.N.R.I., The Laws of Scourge marks a change in musical style, with the band playing clearer and more proficient death/thrash metal.[3] In addition, the album is considered one of the first technical death metal albums.[4] This was also the last full-length record to feature a human drummer, as from Hate onwards, the band would use a drum machine.
