In fact it is. The mastermind behind the songs Dirk Johannsen did his best to show that Steel Maid is different from RAVAGE although the unique vocals from Al Firicano (RAVAGE) proove a similarity between both bands. If you like 'Spectral rider' you will be not disappointed in any case with 'Raptor'. If you prefer 'The end of tomorrow' maybe you will miss the great sound and a more 'middle of the road'-style (except the incredible title-songs) 'Raptor' is very raw and the songs could have been written in 1983, so don't expect that you will listen to an album made in 2010. No, inside your CD-player there is another year and the songs cry for being released in vinyl-format. As I know this is not planned due to lack of money. A PITY! Finally like the RAVAGE-works also 'Raptor' has a song which is so much over the top that you will never forget it. 'Armageddon' is what 'Curse of heaven' and 'The end of tomorrow' were on the RAVAGE albums. Another song for eternity but this time not written by Al himself but from guitarist Dirk Johannsen. Quite often ballads are not liked too much from Metal-listeners, but the acoustic version from 'The falling angel' is fantastic. A fine coverartwork makes this remarkable album complete. The follow-up to 2003's "Voivod", "Katorz" is the first album in the band's 20-plus-year career that did not feature founding guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour working alongside his band members in the studio. D'Amour died August 26, 2005 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer. In order to record "Katorz", singer Denis "Snake" Belanger, drummer Michael "Away" Langevin, and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted utilized all of the guitar parts that Piggy had recorded for the record on his laptop with ProTools before his death. Founded in 2021 by guitarist Geoff Waye, of the popular True Metal band Category VI, Triskelyon released one self-titled EP and were promptly signed to Moribund Records for their radio chart-topping debut album “Downfall” (2022)!

ABHOR are a veritable institution of Italian black metal. Formed in 1995 in the northeast of Italy, the band began with a passion for black metal music and the study of esoteric arts. Less like a band and more like a congregation, ABHOR represent a form of global art that embraces musical art, visual art, and literal art. Their first musical manifestation came in 1998, with the first demo tape In Tuo Honori Preparatum. From there, ABHOR were off and running, subsequently releasing eight albums with a variety of labels, doing honorable underground work. Within their ranks came many musicians, including members of compatriots Evol.
ABHOR continue their deeper-into-the-catacombs ascent with the devilish Sex Sex Sex (Ceremonia Daemonis Antichristi). Truly titled, Sex Sex Sex brings a spooky sensuality to ABHOR's trademark style of olde-worlde black metal. With both Hammer Horror organs to the fore and a macho headbanging stomp, the Italians create a canvas of arcane mysteries and ancient metal might, foregoing so much of the fluff that's characterized post-"second wave" black metal and striking true(r) to the sound of the Old Gods: Celtic Frost, Mortuary Drape, Varathron, Samael, and even very earliest Mayhem. It's more of "no more, but no less" Esoteric Horror Black Metal, but still suffused with an undeniable energy and electricity, even when creeping slowly through those catacombs.
