2022 full-length studio album from the seminal British Heavy Metal Heroes hailing from Barnsley, UK. Ten titanic tracks bristling with still-clad riffery and proud intent, Carpe Diem is the statement which reminds heavy metal fans worldwide who the true masters of British Metal are, drawing on a variety of ingredients from their career to forge what is Saxon’s most dynamic release in many a year. "It all starts with the riff,” says frontman and co-founder Biff Byford, "if the riff speaks to me, then we’re on our way. It’s a very intense album, and that’s all down to the fact that the essence of a great metal song is the riff that starts it, and this album has loads of them." From the title track’s roll-back attack to the incessant speed and power of “Super Nova”, this is Saxon at their purest and most definitive, aggressively parading the pure metal flag and imploring fans old and new to gather and celebrate the very best of both Saxon and the genre itself. “All for One” has the stomp and pure power of a “Princess of the Night” while “The Pilgrimage” is classic “Crusader”-era Saxon. Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept and Richie Faulkner) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford with Sneap mixing and mastering, Carpe Diem strikes the ear as one of the most essential British Metal statements of the last few years, one which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the Saxon fold. “I love that sort of fast metal. I love Princess of the Night and 20,000 FT and I try and bring that style of Saxon into the music now but in a bit more modern style” affirms Byford “but it’s the same five guys playing it and singing it, so I think we don’t really sound like an old band on records because we’re not really sitting back on our past success. We’re always trying to make a great album.” “We want every album we make to go platinum,” says Byford defiantly. "We never make an album that we don’t expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, only a commitment to the best songs and riffs we can write.” Saxon have certainly made sure to Seize the Day; be sure you join them.
Originally self-released on CD last year for Moenos’s own label, Sex Desire Records, this is Peru’s Austral Holocaust Productions pressing. For nearly 15 years, Sex Messiah has been a mainstay of the Japanese underground, routinely performing live and releasing some of the most intriguing black/death metal the country has exported in recent years. A constellation of musicians have performed in Sex Messiah, but Moenos, whose extraordinary guitar, synth, and experimental/noise atmospherics define the band’s sound, remains its axis. Sex Messiah remains a stripped-down guitar/drums duo on their latest recording, “Metal del Chivo,” which consists of four new studio tracks and a five-song live recording from 2020. The personnel change brought with it notable stylistic and compositional mutations. Whereas Moenos previously delegated vocal duties to others, she now delivers her own bestial rasps. And the lyrics, written by SEXXX Grinder, are in his native Spanish. Musically, the Sex Messiah sound has come into focus. Instead of drawing together influences from different genres, the new material is undiluted, a barrage of crude, demonically impassioned black/death metal, unhinged and cacophonous in the early Cogumelo style. Sadistic and compositionally sharp, “Metal del Chivo” carries a more visceral impact than any of the band’s earlier work.
Third full-length album by Chilean Atmospheric Black Metal act Sol Sistere. A new dawn for the band since their addition to the Cult Of Parthenope record label.
Brazilian pressing of this 2021 release. With pandemic necrotic vibes, Thy Rites are back with their fourth full-length album titled as “Nekrolatreia” bringing a brand new and extreme musical direction on the conceptual death cult assault. 11 skullcrushing hellbanging tracks, around 30 minutes of sonic cultist black/speed metal fanatism to feast the humankind damnation with bestial riffin violence forged in the evil glorious metal from the primordial 80’s. Strongly recommended for the fans of SLAYER, KREATOR, BATHORY, POSSESSED, RAZOR, SARCÓFAGO, MUTILATOR, NIFELHEIM. Artwork by Luciana Nedelea.
"Sword and Sorcery" is the third album by the Finish band WITCHBLOOD. Here we have an interesting enigma as WITCHBLOOD belong to that rare breed of black metal band who have somehow managed to go almost entirely unnoticed in the metal underground, despite having a number of things that will intrigue those who take the time to really listen to their music. The project is lead by a woman which uses the pseudonym Iron Meggido, who provides the vocals and all of the instruments with the exception of the drums. Drumming is provided by a revolving cast of skins men. While one-man projects are a dime a dozen in underground black metal, one-woman metal black metal projects are a bit more of a rarity, but the real impressive thing is that all of the instrumentation here is performed with grim refinement and harsh fury. The vocals can take some time to digest, but keep in mind this is the inner demon of a woman being unleashed upon the black metal underground. Iron Meggido truly sounds possessed, recalling the utterly demonic screams of Hat or Pest from Gorgoroth in their primal, inhuman fury and form. As you acclimate to the vocals you will notice the utter rage, contempt, and passion delivered in this album as a whole. If you are interested in digesting an underground album that takes a few spins to really sink in, look no further than WITCHBLOOD.

The album features 9 new and hostile death metal hymns clocking in at roughly 50 minutes. Don't expect anything less than the habitual heavy-duty finger-picked bass lines, triumphant dueling guitars, hoarse vocals, and engrossing leitmotifs.
DRAGONHAMMER are one of the pillars of the Italian Power Metal scene, a band that marks the history of this music from 20 years. With the new album "Second Life" they open a new chapter giving a turn to their music, that is now more powerful, more epic and technically as sublime as it was in the past. It is the evolution of the band's way of creating music, renewed in sound and formation. Among the new characteristics of this work, the addition of new vocal elements, more symphonic keyboards and more powerful guitars stand out. An album that opens up new visions for the future and wants to be the starting point of this new identity. So definitely you'll get an explosive mix of Power and Epic Metal with great Symphonic parts.
